Beach Safety
Before you go down to the beach, it is worth reading this article to Get Water Wise:
Here is a reminder of how to stay safe and a few valuable lessons to pass onto your children or grandchildren.
- Stop and think. Look for dangers and always read the signs.
- Never swim along – always take someone with you.
- Look out for lifeguards and always try to find a lifeguard swimming site.
- Keep away from the edge of Open water and stick to designated paths.
- Know your limits and don’t take risks the water is probably colder and the current stronger than it looks.
- If you find yourself unexpectedly in water, float or swim on your back until you can control your breathing and shout for help.
- If you see someone else in trouble in the water, call 999.
