RSPB Walk to Conwy
You start at RSPB, Llandudno Junction, North Wales Expressway, Conwy, LL31 9XZ. It will take you approx. 45 minutes and is a flat and accessible route. Just before the entrance to the RSPB there is parking which faces the River Conwy.
Once out of the car, there is a path to your left facing the castle. Take the path and the walk winds around the Estuary and you will see Conwy Castle. Follow the firm path and it will lead you to Conwy.
Conwy Castle is a medieval fortification in Conwy. It was built by Edward I during his conquest of Wales, between 1283 and 1289. Constructed as part of a wider project to create the walled town of Conwy, the combined defences cost around £15,000 a huge sum for the period. Over the next few centuries, the castle played an important part in several ways. It withstood the siege of Madog ap Llewelyn in the winter of 1294-95 and acted as a temporary haven for Richard II in 1399 and was held for several months by forces loyal to Owain Glyndwr in 1401.
Once on the quay, you can visit the Smallest House In the UK, Plas Mawr or Conwy Castle.
There are plenty of cafes and restaurants in Conwy or you can treat yourself to Fish and Chips on the quay (The Galleon, 2A High Street, Conwy, LL32 8DB).
If you have little ones you can even go crabbing and buy the equipment for approximately £3.00 on the quay.
