The Seat Of Ifan Goch

This is a fine little walk with outstanding views.  The name you will find on a map is Cadair Ifan Goch and its marked as National Trust.  This walk is a fairly easy walk, but to get to the view you have to climb over a rock.  My 75 year old mother did it with a little help.

The walk starts from a small car park;.  The address is Cadair Ifan Goch, Maenan, Llanrwst, Conwy, LL26 OYR.  The car park is free and is open anytime.

The walk to the view is through private woodland with a designated path so please do not stray.  It will take about an hour and you can take a picnic, once at the top the viewpoint is spectacular.

Cadair Ifan Goch means Red Ifan’s seat.  Ifan Goch was a giant who sat on the ledge to cool his feet in the river below.  He also was alleged to stand with one foot on Cadair Ifan Goch and one foot on Pen Y Gaer on the opposite side of the valley in order to wash his face in the river, though we could think of more comfortable positions.

The Conwy Valley stretches magnificently below!
